BROADCASTING HOPE IN JAPAN!
God has given us an exciting way to impact whole communities in Japan as the 1 Year Anniversary of the devastating tsunami approaches – Hope Radio!
Since the tsunami struck on March 11, 2011, Somebody Cares has helped thousands of people with immediate relief supplies, trauma
counseling, pastoral support, and on-going ministry. Just recently we heard of a woman who confided in our ministry partner, Christian Relief Assistance Support Hope (CRASH), that she was planning to commit suicide, but then they kept coming back – it gave her hope for a future. She lives today!
The first anniversary of any tragedy is always tough for survivors. Experience shows that suicides and depression hit high points during the critical period surrounding the first anniversary. That is why it is so important that we step up outreach efforts during this time.
Right now, we have the opportunity to plant twenty low power radio stations in hard hit communities in the north of Japan. Japan has long been known for its resistance to the Gospel with only about 1% of the population confessing Christ as their Savior. But hearts are changing and a new receptivity is clearly seen. The doors have opened for radio outreach in Japan like never before. Starting these stations in tsunami affected communities will offer hope and counsel during this difficult time, and also for years to come! That is why this project is called HOPE RADIO!
Somebody Cares is partnering with CRASH, Galcom International, and TransWorld Radio to locate 20 radio transmitters, amplifiers and antennas in Japan. Initial programming will be provided by CRASH with support from TransWorld Radio. These stations will broadcast children’s programming, trauma care and disaster response information, city announcements, weather, uplifting Christian
music, messages of Truth and church announcements.
Will you help bring THE HOPE to Japanese men, women and children during one of their darkest hours? Right now we need $3,600 per station which includes a transmitter, amplifier, antenna mast, operational computer and some logistics. Please consider sponsoring all or part of a station in Japan to bring the HOPE to tsunami survivors who are now looking for answers! We need to know how many radio stations we can fund by March 1, 2012 so we can spread hope in communities during the one year anniversary commemorative events. Donate to Japan Relief Today!
