Somebody Cares Lawrence Launched
Lawrence Superintendent of School Faith Based Initiative

Mark Rivera, Urban Liaison for the Lawrence Public Schools and his wife Someris have begun SCL.  The Superintendent of the Lawrence Schools  through a Faith Based Initiative collaborating with Somebody Cares Lawrence have launched their first initiative by purchasing back to school backpacks filled with supplies for the low income children in Lawrence public schools.

In November (watch the www.somebodycaresne.org for date and time) Melvin Adams former Harlem Globe Trotter, comedian, rap artist, and evangelist will be speaking at the Lawrence schools on “Dreams Come True”.   As a 5’2″ basketball player Melvin had a dream to one day play pro basketball and his dream came true.

His life’s message is every youth has a destiny and those who hear Melvin will be inspired to dream of one day doing great things in their own lives, their families, their community and their nation.

Through prayer, compassion and evangelism God is forming a relational net of churches and business’ in the greater Lawrence area to be the tangible expression of Christ’s love.  The ultimate goal of the chapters of Somebody Cares is to see the power of God transform individuals, families and communities.
