Before Super Typhoon Haiyan, Somebody Cares was working with our partner relationships and ministries in the Philippines responding to the 7.1 earthquake that struck central Philippines, Bohol province in early October. God was connecting strategic partnerships in preparation for one of the most devastating and catastrophic natural disasters in the Philippines’ history. Typhoon Haiyan came across the Philippines with winds over 190mph resulting in a tidal surge pushing inland destroying entire communities. Early projections are estimating over 10,000 casualties with 70,000 families affected as well as close to 350,000 people displaced.
Somebody Cares is currently in direct communication with strategic partners who are already on the ground connecting relationships, assessing damage and identifying immediate needs. As reports come in we will determine how we can best respond through both financial and material resources. Our commitment has always been and will continue to be the empowerment of local partners who are on the ground aiding those who are in greatest need. You can be a tangible expression of Christ’s love to Typhoon survivors through your generous donations. We will continue to up date you through our website and social media as we become aware of immediate and ongoing needs. Please help today!
Doug Stringer has been to our church, Praise Fellowship , in Russell Pa on a few occasions. We use to have a community project with somebody cares. I was Wondering about how to give money, or should we concentrate on the groups on the ground like Samaritans Purse. Also, I have an Idea, or God gave me one in a dream, to later when the clean up is on the way to being completed, it has to do with restoring joy to the teenagers and the little ones. Thankyou Mary Roller
Hi Mary,
You can donate through Somebody Cares for relief efforts in the Philippines. We are working with local churches to help their communities. Our partner on the ground just sent word that they distribute food to feed 5000 people through 33 churches outside of Cebu.
Dear SBC team. I have the privilege of volunteering at the Seafarer’s Ministry at Port Canaveral, FL. We serve, pray for, witness, teach many men and women from the Philippines who serve on the many cruise ships that dock at our Port. These past two weeks have been especially hard because of the devastation in their country. Many don’t know about their families because there is no communication, many know they have no home to go home to. Many rejoice because their families were not involved. I am so thankful that I have the compassion, love, care, and comfort from our Heavenly Father to wrap around these precious young men and women. I am sending a small donation, have already donated once to a pastor living in Leyhte whose sister in law is a friend. Please use this as best you can. And above all PRAY PRAY PRAY.
Thank you Peggy, and bless you for all the work you are doing to share Jesus with those in the Cruise industry.
