Somebody Cares and partners continue to serve the people of Nashville who experienced incredible destruction after a series tornadoes swept through the area in the early morning hours on Monday. Reports say the tornado paths extended for up to 100 miles, beginning in Northwest Nashville and continuing into rural areas east of the city.

Mark Roye and Bob Ball from our Somebody Cares team arrived Tuesday with the Holy Smoke grill to join relief partner CRI as they coordinated volunteers working in debris and tree removal in the Rosebank community. An estimated 75-100 homes in Rosebank were damaged by the storm, including 15-20 that were destroyed beyond repair. Nearly 200 volunteers, many of them local, showed up to serve. The SCA grill team has served 1100 hot meals to volunteers and residents the past two days.

Mike Lynch from partner Ally Force arrived today with 6,000 pounds of various kinds of meat, just in time for two major outreaches this weekend. At the request of the city’s housing authority, SCA will be serving a total 2,000-3,000 hot meals at two public housing communities. Residents of Parkview Terrace were just able to return to their homes today to begin assessing the damage, and residents of Cumberland View–though not damaged by tornado winds–have been without power all week. Local ministry Elijah’s Heart will also be distributing groceries at each of these locations.

“We are so blessed to be a part of such a great community of people who, whenever there’s a disaster, come together to partner with local churches and help facilitate the stages of relief,” said Mark Roye from SC San Antonio, who coordinates assessments and hot meals for SCA during relief efforts.

Please join us in helping families pick up the pieces of their lives with a financial gift today!

Your gift of $15 will provide hot meals to a family of five. A $50 or $100 gift will provide a family with gift cards to purchase desperately needed necessities.

Please pray for safety and comfort for those impacted as well as for responders helping on the ground. Also pray for those who are still without power as the temperatures drop this weekend.

Thank you for caring!
