Care means being a tangible expression of God’s love through acts of compassion.
The working out of genuine prayer and heartfelt compassion is foundational in bringing true transformation in communities and cities around the nation and world! Somebody Cares engages volunteers to reach out to the hurting in society by being the hands and feet of Jesus, offering real help. It is proven that when individuals, churches, businesses, and community leaders reach out to help their neighbors, they come alive in the process. Each person helped also becomes a tangible manifestation of God’s love and hope, proclaimed to the entire community.
While types of effective compassion outreaches are endless, below are a few examples of outreaches implemented by Somebody Cares in various communities and cities:
CareFest is a week long Christ-centered outreach that began in 2001 in Tampa Bay. The celebration brings churches, businesses, and civic leaders together for the purpose of blessing the city in tangible ways. Thousands of volunteers are mobilized annually to give a day of labor on assigned care projects throughout the community, including home repair for the elderly, beautification projects at schools, park clean-ups, and many others. CareFest serves as a catalyst for ongoing care in communities, and caring becomes contagious!
Impacting families in a positive way can change a community by working with families and providing them with mentoring, skills, and resources needed to overcome the challenges working against them. Somebody Cares is seeing transformation in family members, children, and adults, which spills out into the community for broader impact.
Somebody Cares Livelihood Training
Another way we care for the disadvantaged is by providing training for individuals, ministry leaders, and organizations. By offering computer training, ESL classes, and finance training, and other similar courses we are seeing individuals equipped, empowered, and encouraged!
