Working in cooperation with our network of relief partners, Somebody Cares has various types of assistance being delivered and en route to the islands of the Bahamas.
Partners Operation Compassion and Abaco Relief have received a supply of hygiene items, which are being distributed in some of the islands near Abaco. Another partner, Iris Relief, has set up a base camp and medical clinic in Freeport, where the hospital was shut down due to damage. Yesterday, on the first day of operation, the clinic saw 50 patients. Many more are expected as local agencies begin to advertise that the clinic is open.
In addition, SCA/I has obtained a truckload of cleaning supplies, pillows, and work gloves that will be delivered to Florida this weekend that will be shipped to the Iris based in Freeport, and partner Ally Force is sending a truckload of fortified rice meals, a truckload of flour, and a pallette of hazmat suits.
Please pray for the following:
  • Because of the vast amount of trauma on the islands due to the severity of loss, Somebody Cares and our partners are making plans for a Hope and Healing ministry gathering. Please pray for this along with our partners on the ground who are already ministering to those in crisis.
  • SCA/I is in conversation about obtaining a boat that will help substantially with delivering aid to the outer islands. Please pray for this or another method of delivery to work out so we can facilitate assistance to locations that may be overlooked.
  • Protection and provision for all of those who are serving as well as those who are being served.
Needless to say, the devastation is great and the needs are even greater. Please consider a generous donation to help all those affected by Dorian today! (Select Hurricane Response in the drop-down menu)
Thank you for caring!
