A 6.3 earthquake rocked Turkey and Syria today, only weeks after the February 6 quakes that took thousands of lives and destroyed entire communities. Somebody Cares partners in the region report additional damage while continuing to minister comfort and hope to those impacted by the quakes.
“We had a pretty significant shaking close by,” said Sean Malone, Director of CRI, which is working in Antakya. “We are fine…these people are not. Very distressing to the residents who lived through the initial quakes.”
Pray for our partners working on-site, who are working in both countries to provide aid and comfort to survivors. Pray also for residents who have lost family, friends, homes and more, which has caused trauma from the magnitude of loss. SCA staff member Belinda Thacker will be joining CRI next week to serve the people of Antakya with meals, shelter, mattresses, prayer and more. Our partnership with local churches continue as we help provide to those relocating to new parts of the country because homes; as well as shelter, hot meals, blankets, and more for those who remain in the region. Please consider giving to help the precious and desperate people who have lost so much!
Thank you for caring!
