“I was on my phone with my son-in-law, and the last words I heard were, ‘The house is collapsing.’”
Troy lives in Dawson Springs, Kentucky, one of the communities hard-hit by the December tornadoes that tore through Kentucky, Tennessee, and other states.
His home was destroyed as well as the home of his daughter, son-in-law, and four young grandchildren. His son-in-law is a pastor, and the church was also destroyed. Though carrying the burden his family, he was still thanking the Lord for their lives.
“As soon as I could get out, I walked to their house to check on my baby girl,” he said. It took them 15 minutes to dig their way out of the fallen house, but they were safe.
“We were touched by Troy’s story,” says Doug Stringer. “We gave him gift cards and Somebody Cares bears to help the grandkids have some semblance of Christmas joy in the midst of all the turmoil.”
SCA continues to connect with our partners and churches on the ground in the area, as they transition from rapid response to recovery and rebuilding. Please continue praying for residents who are rebuilding and those who are serving them and give today!
Thank you for caring!
