Torrential rains over the past week has caused epic flooding in communities across central Texas and Oklahoma as well as cities like Austin, San Antonio and Houston. Multiple people have been killed in the storms and Search and Rescue teams are still looking for those swept away by flash flooding.   Thousands of people have been evacuated and over a thousand homes have been damaged, destroyed or completely swept away by flood waters.  Additional rain is predicted this weekend which could cause the situation to get much worse.

As Somebody Cares has been assessing the needs, we have discovered that several faithful Somebody Cares pastors have had personal damage from Houston to Waco.  They are among the many who have had homes and property damaged or lost by the storms.

These servants of God have done so much to assist others in their times of need, even leading Somebody Cares disaster relief efforts in the past — but now they need help too.

Already Somebody Cares has a team in the Wimberly area serving 600+ hot meals a day to first responders and community members, distributing gift cards for immediate needs and giving Somebody Cares bears to children for comfort.  We are also helping mobilize truckloads of drinking water, Gatorade and cleaning supplies so they are channeled to communities in need; as well as identifying families, like these faithful pastors, who need help recovery from the flood damage.

Please join us as we help people affected by the floods throughout Texas and into Oklahoma. Please give today!

We are asking you to continue to pray for:

  • Success of on-going Search and Rescue efforts,
  • That predicted rains over the coming days will do no additional harm
  • Safety for those dealing with flooding and the storms
  • That Christ will make Himself real to all affected during this time of crisis.

Thank you for caring!
