Scriptures and Key Points:

  • The power that we have in life is really in the hidden place of prayer.
  • And what we do in our private posture has everything to do with our public influence or lack of it.

Deuteronomy 7:9 NKJV Therefore know that the Lord your God, He is God, the faithful God who keeps covenant and mercy for a thousand generations with those who love Him and keep His commandments

Proverbs 3:5-6 NLT Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take.

  • In the end, the only thing that’s going to matter is how many people are in heaven because of our influence.
  • God made us for heaven. He didn’t make us for this world.
  • For He gives us enough time to figure out who He is. And then enough time to decide if we want to serve Him or this world as our God.
  • As a businessman, you can lead people to the Lord easily. You can reach people that a pastor can’t reach.
  • Barry’s business is still his pulpit.

Barry reminds us to love people.

  • Move everybody, every day, closer to Jesus. And stop trying to get them saved. Just love on them.

John 13:35 NKJV  By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.

  • They’ll know you by your love, not by your Bible knowledge.
  • Allow God to love them through you.

John 4 NKJV …But He said to them, “I have food to eat of which you do not know.”…Behold, I say to you, lift up your eyes and look at the fields, for they are already white for harvest!…

  • In other words, our fulfillment is not in just what we get to do for ourselves, but in what God gives us, in stewardship, to minister to others in the harvest.
  • Loving people is the extent of your responsibility.
  • When you’re sharing your faith in love, He takes up the slack.
  • You can’t prepare for these conversations.

Luke 12:12 NLT For the Holy Spirit will teach you at that time what needs to be said.

  • And at that moment, you understand that you’re right where God wants you to be.
  • God wants you to share your faith to ignite your life.
  • Defeat fear with effortless faith. You have effortless faith when you live for God’s purpose.

Romans 8:28 NLT And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.

  • Only 1% of Christians share their faith.

You can’t change the world, but you could change your world.

  • God’s already working on them.
  • When God leads you to speak to them, you’re actually joining a process He’s already started.
  • We don’t have anything secular in our lives.
  • Everything you say and do is moving everybody watching you closer or further away from God.

Mark 12:30-31 NIV Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’ The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no commandment greater than these.”

James 1:17 NIV Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father…

  • Let’s give Him credit.

Matthew 5:15 NKJV Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket…

  • People want reality.
  • When we do that honestly, it changes lives.
  • Satan’s number one tool that he uses against us is fear.
  • When we are living in fear, we’re busy telling God, “I don’t trust you.”
  • But you can’t accomplish faith by willing it to happen, because it’s supernatural.
  • When Barry started sharing his faith, fear went away, because he was living for God’s purpose.
  • Right song, wrong side.
  • Rejoice before He solves the problem.

Barry shares how our testimonies are more powerful when we’re under duress.

  • When you’re in those tough moments, God is there and He’s up to something.
  • Barry has learned there is joy in the midst of sorrow.
  • Because our Savior lives and is in control, your testimony will never be more powerful than in those challenging moments.
  • People want to have faith that they can use.
  • We’ve come to a place where we’ve not stayed in the presence of worship, prayer, fellowship, and getting in His Word.

Proverbs 22:6 NKJV Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it.

  • We need to teach our children, not entertain them.

Romans 10:14 NLT But how can they call on him to save them unless they believe in him? And how can they believe in him if they have never heard about him? And how can they hear about him unless someone tells them?

  • You don’t need to be sent, send yourself.
  • The most prolific faith sharers are new Christians. They don’t know scripture, but they’re full of love. God has overwhelmed them, and His love flows through them.
  • Even when Barry went through challenges, he praised God through it.
  • Love on the worst.
  • The message of love permeates everybody.
  • He loves you as much He loves His own Son, Jesus Christ. That’s how much He loves you and wants you to spend eternity with Him.
  • God’s love is about bringing us to Him.
  • Every conversation we have is important.
  • God, help us to not have apathy.
  • And then the Holy Spirit gives you the words to say, to heal that heart, to speak to them, and they’ll know that’s God. Their life is being changed. But you’re being changed too because you know God is using you.

Barry encourages us to start moving everybody every day closer to Jesus.

  • Share your faith when you have that conversation. And at the end of that conversation, you ask this question,”It sounded like you’d like to know more about God.”
  • They always say yes.
  • There is a hunger level of longing in people. They just need God’s people to have the ministry of presence.
  • It’s about bringing the presence of God in us into our situations.
  • Every situation or adversity becomes an opportunity for God to show up.
  • There’s no other way in life to have that kind of intimacy with God.

Mark 16:15 NLT And then he told them, “Go into all the world and preach the Good News to everyone.

  • Winning the lost is secondary. God’s focus is on you.
  • He knows when you’re sharing your faith, you’ll be in the Word.
  • And you’re praying.
  • God wants you to start right now.
  • Will we remain complacent in our comfortable circumstances, or will we please God and lovingly minister to others in hopes of turning them to the Lord?
  • And second, will we speak God’s truth even when it’s not popular.
  • Speak the truth in love seasoned in grace, but speak the truth nonetheless.

“This generation of preachers is responsible for this generation of sinners. At the very doors of our churches are the masses unwon because they are unreached, unreached because they are unloved. … Sin today is both glamorized and popularized, thrown into the ear by radio, thrown into the eye by television, and splashed on popular magazine covers. Churchgoers, sermon-sick and teaching-tired, leave the meeting as they entered it—visionless and passionless! Oh God, give this perishing generation 10,000 John the Baptists!” – Leonard Ravenhill, Why Revival Tarries

We are in need of a forerunner generation.

  • It’s time to take personal responsibility for our lives.
  • If you’re in a church not preaching salvation, get out of there.
  • We can’t allow the bitternesses to shape us. Realize that God loves everybody. God loves the people we hate.
  • They’re not evil; they’re lost.
  • If you love your neighbor as yourself, you satisfy all the law, not out of legalism, just out of love.
  • It’s not hard; it’s freedom.
  • Just allow God to love people through you.
  • Nothing can happen to us unless God allows it to happen for His glory.

John 8:36 NIV So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.

  • Each of the horrible things that happened in Barry’s life were the spiritual growth spurts of his life.
  • Like Elijah, don’t shrink back in the face of corruption.
  • And like Esther, risk your life to stand for truth and God’s people.
  • Like Daniel, walk in integrity in a hostile culture.
  • And like John the Baptist, be voices crying in the wilderness, preparing the way of the Lord.
  • Be one of those who say yes to God.

“Faith is believing the things you cannot see will come to pass. Fear is believing the things you cannot see will come to pass. But faith is of the Kingdom of God and fear is of the kingdom of darkness.” – Dr. Edwin Louis Cole
