Scriptures and Key Points:
Hebrews 12:2 NKJV Looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith…
- Your life can be God’s glory story.
Haggai 1-2 NKJV …The glory of this latter house shall be greater than of the former…
- With her military father often absent, God became Kathy’s ever-present and faithful Father.
- Wisdom is in the strategy.
- Sit and listen to the Lord.
- Prayer is a conversation and you can’t always be the talker.
- Take times of solitude.
James 5:16 NKJV …The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.
- “Much” (polys) in the above scripture is the same word used to describe God’s glory, His mercy, and our reward in Heaven.
- Glorify God among the nations – Seeking Him in all generations.
1 Chronicles 16:24 NASB Tell of His glory among the nations, His wonderful deeds among all the peoples.
- Don’t just live it out, talk it out as well.
“Talk less, pray more.” – Gary Miller
- And really listen.
- Focus is key.
- Leave your phone out of your prayer closet.
- Practice silence.
1 Samuel 3:10 NIV …“Speak, for your servant is listening.”
Isaiah 55:8-9 NIV “For my thoughts are not your thoughts…
- Learn to be in God’s presence.
- Lift up the Word, and light up the world.
- “If not for God”…we did not accomplish this on our own.
We’ve made prayer an event and not a lifestyle.
- Keep your prayers biblical and focused on God’s heart.
“Josephus, the first-century Jewish historian who witnessed the tragedy of the destruction of Jerusalem and the desecration of the Temple- wrote that the Jews ‘turned their hands one against another.’ Divided families, towns and communities were in conflict…” – Watch Jerusalem in November 2019
- The Bible is our litmus test.
John 15:4 NKJV Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me.
Matthew 12:34 CSB …For the mouth speaks from the overflow of the heart.
- When you start telling a story, talking about yourself, or preaching a sermon, you have quit talking to God and are speaking to the audience.
- And that’s not prayer.
- Keep your focus on God, everyone else is just a holy eavesdropper praying in agreement.
- You have to pray scripture, not personal preference.
- Only declare what is in the Bible.
- Often we declare things we should be asking.
- Is it written in the Word of God?
- We need to come before God with a sense of awe and humility.
- Thank Him for what He’s already done.
- The more we appreciate Him, the more He wants to bless you.
- Eulogize others while they are alive.
- Praise them for who they are.
- Branches intertwine on a vine to uphold one another.
Our prayer life helps us in our relationship with others, because God gives us His perspective.
- Face your challenges with the attitude that God’s glory is at stake.
- We live in His promises, in His covenant.
1 Peter 5:10 NIV …after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast.
- Our suffering is either authored by God or He allows it according to His purpose.
- If He allows it, it is going to be good for you.
- You’re going to go to bed tonight better than you were. That’s sanctification.
- God promises completeness, perfection, to be established, and to be strengthened.
- “Strengthen” (sthenoō) refers to a strengthening of your soul.
- “Perfect” (katartizō) is to be made in the way we were meant to be.
- Completeness in our minds.
- Every time you go to complain about it, instead pray about it.
- Give Him praise in the midst of it.
- God never forgets His promise of fulfilling His purposes in our lives.
2 Chronicles 7:14 NKJV If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.
- We forget to humble ourselves and turn from our wicked ways.
- Humility doesn’t cancel people.
- Go to your Bible and test what you have heard.
- We don’t know what we don’t know.
- What does love require?
- The word “balance” is not in the Bible.
- Jesus was obedient.
- God has the plan for each of us. It’s not our plans for each other.
- We need to stop trying to divide up our time and responsibilities.
- Focus on glorifying God.
- Live a life of obedience.
- And love those who are living differently.
“Prayer produces intimacy to whom you pray, with whom you pray in agreement, and then for whom you pray.” – Dr. Edwin Louis Cole
“Before you talk to your neighbors about God, talk to God about your neighbors.” – Ed Silvoso
- When you get God’s heart, you can minister the truth in love.
“Speak the truth in love, seasoned with grace, but speak the truth nonetheless.” – Doug Stringer
- We need to be lovers of truth if we want to walk in obedience.
- Be available to God daily.
- Don’t think too highly of yourself.
- Walk in simple obedience to God, which is the highest form of worship.
- The first scriptural context of worship was not in the form of singing, but in obedience to God.
- Offering ourselves as living sacrifices becomes an act of worship.
Romans 12:1 NKJV I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service.
- “How am I going to glorify God?”
- We are enough of a mess; we don’t need to sort out others.
- God calls us to love and pray for one another.
- Instead of rubbing salt in their wounds, become salt and life.
- Speak truth boldly, but don’t be mean or rude.
- Talk about God.
- Watch your tone.
- Apologize when you slip into a non-loving tone.
- People matter more than your opinions.
- Have the ministry of hanging out.
- Everybody has a story.
- Touch their heart and their mind will open.
Pray that people will hear about God.
Jeremiah 33:3 NKJV ‘Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know.’
- That scripture was spoken in the midst of a difficult time in Israel’s history.
- We need to reengage with the Lord.

- His Word is our instruction manual.
Ephesians 2:10 NIV For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.
Galatians 6:2 NIV Carry each other’s burdens…
Hebrews 13:5 NIV …God has said, “Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.”
