Over six months have passed since Hurricane Melissa devastated portions of Jamaica, with much of the island still in the throes of rebuilding and recovery. And throughout the area, our partners at Somebody Cares Caribbean are meeting needs.
Last week, AMI Jamaica–one of Somebody Cares Caribbean’s key partners–ministered to residents at a state run home for abused children in the hard hit community of Trelawny.
“We shared clothing and food gifts provided by Somebody Cares with the staff and children at this girls’ home,” said Sharon Ricketts, who leads our chapter there. “The gifts were received with joy as they are still recovering from Hurricane Melissa. Other members of the community were blessed with packages of food and clothing.”
Some of the items distributed were collected and shipped from the US in containers; other items were purchased with financial donations. These donations also supported the chapter’s street feeding outreach as well as a local church outreach in Sandy Bay.
Please continue to pray for our chapter and our partners in the area as well as the many residents who are still adversely affected.
