Scriptures and Key Points for Battle

2 Chronicles 20:14-23 NKJV  Then the Spirit of the Lord came upon Jahaziel … And he said, “Listen, all you of Judah and you inhabitants of Jerusalem, and you, King Jehoshaphat! Thus says the Lord to you: ‘Do not be afraid nor dismayed because of this great multitude, for the battle is not yours, but God’s. Tomorrow go down against them. They will surely come up by the Ascent of Ziz, and you will find them at the end of the brook before the Wilderness of Jeruel.

You will not need to fight in this battle.

Position yourselves, stand still and see the salvation of the Lord, who is with you, O Judah and Jerusalem!’ Do not fear or be dismayed; tomorrow go out against them, for the Lord is with you.” And Jehoshaphat bowed his head with his face to the ground, and all Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem bowed before the Lord, worshiping the Lord.

Then the Levites of the children of the Kohathites and of the children of the Korahites stood up to praise the Lord God of Israel with voices loud and high. So they rose early in the morning and went out into the Wilderness of Tekoa; and as they went out, Jehoshaphat stood and said, “Hear me, O Judah and you inhabitants of Jerusalem:

Believe in the Lord your God, and you shall be established; believe His prophets, and you shall prosper.” And when he had consulted with the people, he appointed those who should sing to the Lord, and who should praise the beauty of holiness, as they went out before the army and were saying: “Praise the Lord, For His mercy endures forever.” Now when they began to sing and to praise, the Lord set ambushes against the people of Ammon, Moab, and Mount Seir, who had come against Judah; and they were defeated. For the people of Ammon and Moab stood up against the inhabitants of Mount Seir to utterly kill and destroy them. And when they had made an end of the inhabitants of Seir, they helped to destroy one another.

  • When Jehoshaphat is informed that a great army is coming against Israel, he positions himself in prayer and fasting.

Our hope for the next generation in this battle is a church united.

  • If we align ourselves properly with God, He does the fighting for us.

  • Two things:

    • A posture of humility in the place of prayer, with faces to the ground

    • True worship- which comes from living worshipers in that posture of humility and in prayer. External worship should come from the inward part of our hearts as we offer ourselves as living worshipers.

Luke 17:11-19 NKJV Ten Lepers Cleansed

  • All the lepers were healed, but only the one that came back in gratitude was made whole.

Believe and Be Established

  • Believe His prophets, and you shall prosper.

  • Also, believe in the Word, and you shall prosper.

  • When we truly believe God and His word, we shall walk in victory.

  • The Lord will set the ambush when we lift up prayer in a posture of humility; offer of ourselves as living sacrifices with authentic worship that comes out of that place of His presence; then lift up gratitude and praise that goes before the Army of God. That is when He causes things to shift.

  • God has promised divine intervention with breakthrough.

Temples of Great Value

2 Chronicles 20:7-9 NKJV Are You not our God, who drove out the inhabitants of this land before Your people Israel, and gave it to the descendants of Abraham Your friend forever? And they dwell in it, and have built You a sanctuary in it for Your name, saying, ‘If disaster comes upon us—sword, judgment, pestilence, or famine—we will stand before this temple and in Your presence (for Your name is in this temple), and cry out to You in our affliction, and You will hear and save.’

1 Corinthians 6:19-20 NKJV Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s.

  • The word prosperous means we have the freedom and the victories that God has called us to.

What Brings the Breakthrough in the Battle?

2 Samuel 5:19-20 NKJV So David inquired of the Lord, saying, “Shall I go up against the Philistines? Will You deliver them into my hand?” And the Lord said to David, “Go up, for I will doubtless deliver the Philistines into your hand.” So David went to Baal Perazim, and David defeated them there; and he said, “The Lord has broken through my enemies before me, like a breakthrough of water.” Therefore he called the name of that place Baal Perazim.

  • God wants our hearts.

  • The Kingdom of God is built on relationships. First, with God, then with one another.

  • Relationships give definition to our lives and destinies.

Prayer:

Daniel 10 NKJV Daniel seeking breakthrough

  • When we engage in authentic prayer, we’re not telling God what to do.

  • If we inquire of the Lord, pray and obey, the enemy will be defeated.

Praise:

Acts 16:25-26 NKJV But at midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the prisoners were listening to them. Suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken; and immediately all the doors were opened and everyone’s chains were loosed.

  • There’s something about praise that brings breakthrough when we praise the Lord through the midst of our circumstances.

Worship:

  • Authentic worship attracts God’s presence.

Isaiah 58 NKJV …Then your light shall break forth like the morning, Your healing shall spring forth speedily, and your righteousness shall go before you; The glory of the Lord shall be your rear guard…

Four Things that attract God’s presence:

    • Honesty with God– He already knows our hearts, but He wants us to be honest with Him.

    • Holiness- This is not about external piety, but the internal consecration of our heart.

    • Humilityknowing we can’t do what we need to do without the grace of God in our lives.

    • HonorWhen you honor God by appreciating people, even your enemies are attracted to you.

  • When we attract His presence in these ways, it dispels the darkness and changes our circumstances.

  • Praise is like warfare, because praise goes before the battle.

  • Worship is a place of creating an atmosphere that welcomes His presence.

  • Simple obedience to God is the highest form of worship.

Joshua 6 NKJV The Fall of Jericho

  • God honored the Israelites’ simple obedience with an impossible breakthrough!

Generosity:

  • When we live in extravagant and radical giving of our time, talents, and resources—even when everything else seems to be imploding—and we continue to be intentional in praising God with thanksgiving and gratitude, He is faithful to bring breakthrough.

  • Also, when we are grateful and take what little we have, offering it in thanksgiving, it becomes like the boy’s lunch that fed the 5,000. God multiplies and always gives you back more than you started with.

  • We’re harvesting what we’ve already planted.

  • Therefore, we can make every day a decision to serve God and thus sow into our future.
