What We Need for Genuine Revival

  • Pressure magnifies.

  • We have to respond not out of our personal preferences, but through the centrality of the cross.

  • We need to be Christ-centric, not ethnocentric or political centric.

Matthew 12:25 NKJV But Jesus knew their thoughts, and said to them: “Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation, and every city or house divided against itself will not stand.”

  • The heart of a community should be the Church.

  • If we are going to see the soul of a community impacted, it has to have its heart reinvigorated.

Joel 2 NKJV

2 Chronicles 7:14 NKJV If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.

  • The church needs to cross racial, denominational, and generational lines.

  • Joel was written as a wakeup call to a nation in crisis.

  • No leader sets out saying, “I can’t wait to fail!”

  • It’s important that we encourage one another in the Lord.

  • Even in our disagreements, we have far more in common together in Christ.

  • We must meet at the cross of Christ to be a part of something greater than ourselves.

For Revival We Need:

  1. A revelation of God’s presence again:
Everything we do must be born out of God’s presence

  2. To take time to reflect on our personal and corporate areas of vulnerability:
God is not looking for perfection, but He is perfect God doing a work of perfection in us.

  3. To humbly reconcile with God so that we can be reconciled with others:
We must be true witnesses who rescue lives and save souls.

  4. To plant seed and pray for God to do a miracle in the seed to bring forth authentic revival:
We must be obedient and faithful to plant, water, fertilize and tend to the seed of the Gospel.

  5. A change of heart to sustain true reformation:
True reformation that changes the culture starts in our own hearts with a renewed work in us. God will do a work in us, so He can do a work through us.

From times of repentance, come times of refreshing.

“Prayer produces intimacy to whom you pray, for whom you pray, and with whom you pray.” -Dr. Edwin Louis Cole

  • We need to walk in humility with confidence in Him and not in our flesh.

2 Corinthians 5:18 NKJV Now all things are of God, who has reconciled us to Himself through Jesus Christ, and has given us the ministry of reconciliation

Acts 22:6-16 NKJV …‘The God of our fathers has chosen you that you should know His will, and see the Just One, and hear the voice of His mouth. For you will be His witness to all men of what you have seen and heard….

  • Every one of us has a Damascus road experience at some point. In that moment, we have a new calling from God. We are to be witnesses.

Proverbs 14:25 CSB A truthful witness rescues lives…

“Revival is no more a miracle than a crop of wheat.” – Charles Finney

  • We need to be faithful to plant, to water, to fertilize and attend to what God has given us. Then God will bring forth revival in the land.

  • Reformation won’t last by being legislated. We need a heart awakening.

  • Through times of authentic repentance and humility comes times of refreshing.

  • We need to remember that moment when Jesus revealed Himself to us and called us.

Romans 5:2 NKJV Through whom also we have access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.
