2025 SCA Summit: REGISTER HERE!

We are excited to confirm our Somebody Cares Summit will be held May 19-20 here in the Greater Houston area!

This year’s theme—”Leaning In To Legacy | Revival | Transformation: Rediscovering God’s Heart for the Needy”—calls us to a renewed focus on a heart and Church awakening.

We need Transforming Revival—a revival that begins with rediscovering God’s heart and becoming a tangible expression of His love to those around us. When we touch people’s lives with genuine compassion, their hearts are opened to receive the good news of the Gospel.

EVENT TIMES:
Monday, May 19, SCA Network Partners Meeting:

  • 10am-4:30pm

Tuesday, May 20, “Leaning In To Legacy | Revival | Transformation” @ The Humble Civic Center:

  • 10am-4:30pm (with a break for lunch)
  • 6:30-9:30pm (Commissioning Service)
  • Both sessions are free and open to the public

WHY MAY AND WHY HUMBLE, TEXAS?
This year’s summit carries special significance. On May 20, 2000, Derek Prince and I spoke at a landmark event at the Humble Civic Center. God moved in such a profound way and confirmed so many things that were already on Derek’s heart that he soon after published a booklet about God’s heart for the needy.

On Tuesday, May 20, 2025–the 25th anniversary of that significant occasion–we will gather again at the Humble Civic Center for a powerful time of remembrance, inspiration, and commissioning.

Our speakers include Dick Leggatt, former president of Derek Prince Ministries; and Gary Wilkerson, son of the late David Wilkerson and president of World Challenge; along with myself and others from the SCA network.

NETWORK PARTNERS MEETING:
The day prior, Monday, May 19, I will be meeting with our network partners–leaders from our chapters, centers, and affiliate churches and ministries–for a day of vision-sharing, collaboration, and strategic planning. Meetings will begin at 10am and conclude around 4:30pm.

Additionally, we are honored to bless our church partners who have been instrumental in recent hurricane response efforts by hosting them for a time of respite and refreshing.

REGISTRATION:
Seating for both days is limited, so please register HERE.

There is no charge for registration this year, but we will be receiving offerings to help cover expenses, for those who are able to contribute.

All those who register will receive a copy of what Derek wrote in response to that meeting 25 years ago, Discovering God’s Heart for the Needy: Orphans, Widows, the Poor, and Oppressed.

THIS IS NOT JUST ABOUT LOOKING BACK–IT’S A CALL TO ACTION
Why do we do what we do as Christians? Scripture warns that “good works” can become “dead works” if we lose the purpose and passion behind them. There was a time when term like “social justice” and “reconciliation” were understood through a biblical lens, but today they require clarification in the context of the culture in which we live. As 1946 Nobel Peace Prize recipient John R. Mott said, “Evangelism without social work is deficient, but social work without evangelism is impotent.”

In Philippians 3:10-17, The Apostle Paul says our ultimate goal is not just good works, but to know Christ, to experience the power of His resurrection, and to share in the fellowship of His sufferings—which is also the fellowship of His passions. When we truly have the heart of God, we desire to carry His burdens and move with His compassion.

“I press on toward the goal to win the [supreme and heavenly] prize to which God in Christ Jesus is calling us upward.” (Philippians 3:14 AMPC)

We look forward to seeing each of you and celebrating all God is doing!

Thank you for caring!
