The National Weather Service has upgraded Tropical Storm Harvey to hurricane status, with sustained winds of 80 MPH. Harvey is expected to make landfall on Saturday morning in the Corpus Christi area as a Category 3 hurricane. Houston is forecast to receive 5 to 15 inches of rain, and several counties are under voluntary evacuation. Gov. Abbott has declared a state of disaster for 30 Texas counties in anticipation of the storm’s wake.
The Somebody Cares America disaster response network is closely monitoring the situation and will be prepared to mobilize with rapid response relief efforts immediately after Harvey passes. In the meantime, our website offers valuable resources and information to help you be prepared before, during, and after the storm. Click here for more information.
If you live outside the area, please pray for our Gulf Coast residents and consider donating now to help us respond rapidly to those in need when the storm passes.
