Key Thoughts and Scriptures:
- Our identity in Christ is rooted in the unchanging love of a Father who calls us His own and faithfully leads us as we learn to trust Him.
Philippians 4:6-7 NIV Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
- God never asks us to be perfect.
- He simply asks us to trust Him.
James 1:5 NIV If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.
Matthew 6:9-13 NIV The Lord’s Prayer
Ephesians 6:10-18 KJV The Armor of God
- “It’s great that your parents know Me, but who am I to you?”
- As Abby grew older, she began to understand that following Jesus comes with a cost.
- But what she gained was so much more.
- When she made the decision to follow God’s voice, it was transformative for her.
- God often does some of His deepest work in the places we least expect.
- He taught Abby that her relationship with Him does not have to look like anyone else’s.
- What someone looks like on the outside doesn’t necessarily reflect what’s in their heart.
Acts 13:22 NIV After removing Saul, he made David their king. God testified concerning him: ‘I have found David son of Jesse, a man after my own heart; he will do everything I want him to do.’
During her college years, as Abby faithfully wrote out Scripture, her understanding of God’s Word began to deepen and transform.
- God used her time there to strengthen her confidence in Him and sharpen her skills as an editor.
- Good friendships pour back into your cup as well.
“Relationships define our destiny.” – Doug Stringer
- It’s so important to have people in our lives who are biblically based, grounded, and following the Lord themselves.
- God not only was leading her, but He was showing her that He had His hand on every situation.
- Abby’s mom told her, “Don’t just apply anywhere. Apply somewhere that aligns with your mission for your life.”
- She began praying for God’s will to be done in her life.
- That is a great prayer, but it’s also a very dangerous prayer as well because we don’t know God’s will for our life.
- As Abby’s gone forward in life, she’s realized that the path is narrow.
Matthew 7:13-14 NIV “Enter through the narrow gate…But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.
- God has that perfect step in that perfect narrow path for every single person to do what He’s called you to do.
- Stepping out in obedience often comes with challenges and moments where you have to keep trusting God along the way.
- No matter how long you’ve been waiting on God to move, when He does, it happens suddenly.
Through Abby’s difficult season, God taught her more deeply about His truth and His goodness.
- His authority is so much greater than anything that’s on this earth.
- Worship and praise is more than just something we do but it is a weapon against the forces of darkness.
- God does not want us to be defined by anything that we’ve ever done, but to be defined by His mercy and grace.
Matthew 17:20 NIV He replied, “Because you have so little faith. Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.”
- Because God has done it, He can do it, and there’s no reason that He won’t do it.
The Woman with the Issue of Blood
Mark 5:25-34 NKJV …And He said to her, “Daughter, your faith has made you well. Go in peace, and be healed of your affliction.”
- The woman had such great faith that she believed if she could only touch the hem of Jesus’ garment, she would be healed—and she was.
- Abby finds that kind of faith so beautiful and inspiring—the kind that believes no matter how dark the season, how long the struggle, or how sick she feels.
- The woman believed God could do it, and she experienced Him faithfully move in her life.
- And He didn’t just do it, but He also called her “daughter” too.
- God is faithful to lead us when we choose to trust Him, even when we don’t have everything figured out.
- His invitation is so much simpler. He calls us to walk with Him and trust Him.
“God doesn’t love us because our behavior is perfect. God loves us because He is perfect.” – Joyce Meyer
- Our relationship with God is built on His grace and faithfulness, not our ability to perform perfectly.
Proverbs 3:5-6 NIV Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.
Verses from Abby’s Prayer
Psalm 139:13 NIV For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb.
Jeremiah 29:11 NIV For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
- He did miracles then, and He can do miracles now.
John 14:6 NIV Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
1 Peter 5:7 NKJV Casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.
Romans 15:13 NIV May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.
- You do not have to strive to earn God’s love or have everything perfectly figured out.
- He knows how to lead your life and He’s faithful to complete what He begins.
Philippians 1:6 NIV Being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.
- And sometimes He can suddenly change things in ways you never expected.
