Our Guest: Angela Haydel

Angela Haydel is an outgoing, joyful woman of God. She works as a corporate executive assistant and serves through her church as God opens the doors. Angela is the mother of a young adult. And she’s experienced the goodness of God in many ways. She has a passion to see people walking free in their relationship with the Lord.

Key Thoughts and Scriptures:

Galatians 5:7-8 NLT You were running the race so well. Who has held you back from following the truth? It certainly isn’t God, for he is the one who called you to freedom.

  • Christians in Galatia were on the right track, but then got confused by false teaching and the pressures of the world. So they ended up in bondage to the law and to sin.
  • Paul reminded them that God called them and provided them with freedom.
  • Angela has seen and heard about God doing miraculous things from a young age. To her, God was just another part of the family.

James 4:10 NKJV Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and He will lift you up.

    • When we humble ourselves, God will give us our significance.
    • Even if we are raised in a godly environment, it is still incumbent upon us to make godly choices.
    • Angela’s drive to be approved by everybody was overwhelming and suffocating.
    • It’s not what you do or who you know, it’s in who you serve.
  • “You’ll rip your britches if you ride the fence.”
    • But in the midst of all of our messiness, God reaches in and shows us His goodness in the middle of our mess.
    • God is wisdom.
  • “And God knew that my heart was always for Him. I just didn’t always make the right decisions because I let my feelings get ahead of me and my life.”
  • God is big on connections.
  • He brought Angela full circle and gave a son to her through the very streets where they had ministered as a family.
  • Over time, God began healing the hurts and giving her a new identity.

Angela needed to marry her heart back to God.

  • “Keep Me as the cornerstone of your life. In building, you know that if you don’t have a good corner, your building is going to be crooked.”
  • “And I felt like God said, the enemy will no longer use that over your life. This is a new day.”
  • Even in the midst of bad choices, God didn’t leave.
  • When Angela started realizing that she was more concerned about what her dad thought then what God thought about her, she began a journey of taking her dad off that pedestal and keeping God there.
  • I think the Lord in His wisdom allows us as humans to go through things of magnitude, especially when He is truly the Lord of our lives. He is the husband to the widow; He is the father to the fatherless.
  • We don’t live in the Garden of Eden; we live in a fallen world and man will fail you every time but God never will.

Matthew 9:20-22 NKJV The Woman with the Issue of Blood

  • When you’re hanging on by a thread, remember that healing and restoration came through the hem of Jesus’ garment.
  • There was action of being seen as a single person alone, that action of being seen is a huge deal.
  • “I may have had significant loss, but I haven’t lost. I just have loss. But I haven’t lost. And there’s a big difference.
  • It is so important in our faith to truly have a revelation of God’s love for us and God’s faithfulness. Because if we don’t have that revelation, we can be destroyed by little things that happen in our world and bigger things that happen in our world.

When we are at our weakest, we see how strong and faithful God really is.

    • If God has called you to do something, you can stand on the knowledge that if God called you, He will take care of you.
  • “The last thing my dad said to me was, ‘You’re gonna have to finish this.’ And it was just kind of significant, because it just hit me. The reason he said my mom and him had kids was that we as children could do more for the kingdom than he could ever do.”
    • God provides opportunities along the way for us to share His ways and even in small settings. And He sees if we’re faithful.
    • Don’t try to put walls and carpet and window fixings on your calling. Let the Lord do that.
  • “That message you spoke was not just for the kids. There were people in that room that needed to hear what you said.”
  • God knows what delights our hearts.

Psalm 37:23 NLT The Lord directs the steps of the godly. He delights in every detail of their lives.

  • What looks like rejection in your life can be an opportunity for God to protect you.

1 Peter 5:7 NKJV Casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.

  • God is with you in the guts of it.
  • When He wants to get us ready, He takes us to the wilderness.
  • He doesn’t always answer our prayers the way we think He should, because His ways are higher than ours.

Isaiah 55:9 NKJV For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways, and My thoughts than your thoughts.

  • Just remember that when God takes you into the wilderness, He doesn’t leave you there.
  • God gets rid of all of our distractions of who we think we are.

Hannah’s story

1 Samuel 1 NKJV

  • Hannah was one of two wives, so there would have been a battle for her husband’s attention.
  • She was also barren.
  • Her husband really loves her, but his love is not big enough to solve this problem. And that’s so true in marriage. You may love that person, but it’s not going to solve the problem.
  • Her husband’s faithfulness in the Lord allowed her to be faithful.
  • She could have raised her fist up and said, God, why have You done this to me? And instead, she said, God, if you bless me, here’s what I will do.

God’s loyal love never forgets. He never runs out of love.

Lamentations 3:16-33 MSG He ground my face into the gravel. He pounded me into the mud. I gave up on life altogether…the Master won’t ever walk out and fail to return…

  • Take off your glasses of hopelessness and put on glasses of hope.
  • When we take the world out of our ears and get in God’s presence, He will meet us.
  • Wherever you are in life, hold on to hope. God is still God and He still sees you. He’s still interested in you and still has a plan for you.

Ephesians 1:7-8 NLT He is so rich in kindness and grace that he purchased our freedom with the blood of his Son and forgave our sins. He has showered his kindness on us, along with all wisdom and understanding.

  • God created you to be free from the bondage of sin. And when you repent of past mistakes, you’re free from those, God wipes them out.
  • It’s all about your heart posture.

Romans 15:13 NIV May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.
