Key Thoughts and Scriptures:
Colossians 3:23 NIV Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters.
- If we know our identity in Christ, we cannot be shaken by things around us.
- When God knows that our hearts really want to follow after Him, He will intervene when we go down wrong paths.
- “Which path are you going down? One path will lead to life; the other one won’t be so great.”
- Your life is determined by the people you surround yourself with.
- God uses all sorts of things to help form the identity He has for us.
- He knows us intimately better than we know ourselves.
- Everyone has their unique story of their path to parenthood.
- Just do it afraid.
- When Melinda did it afraid, she learned that God was with her.
- Her faith became unmovable and unshakable because of all the miracles and things God’s did.
“I believe that one of the next great moves of God is going to be through the believers in the workplace.” —Billy Graham
- There are doors open to minister to people in the marketplace because they are more transparent and open.
- God wants to bless His people and He uses resources such as financial prosperity.
- Jesus can shine so brightly in the marketplace.
- God can use companies as well as individuals.
Melinda learned that for every time you say yes, you have to say no to something else or else you’ll just be worn out.
- “Lord, show me where you need me.”
- We can follow God’s leading even in the seemingly small and insignificant things.
- “Give me enough wisdom for the next 24 hours.”
- When a business can create a culture of caring and openness, as believers would, it really does lay the groundwork for some honest conversations that can speak truth into people’s lives.
- One of Melinda’s core values is “What God says is true for me.”
- God is not a liar.
- Obedience is just walking with God.
- It’s seeing Him move this way, or seeing Him move that way, and keeping in step with Him.
- One of the catchphrases is “Live your truth”, but we can’t live our truth because we don’t know truth outside of God’s truth.
- All truth is God’s truth; no matter where it’s found.
Melinda draws inspiration from Deborah’s story.
- Deborah’s success was based on her faith in God.
- She had wisdom, honor, and courage to go into battle alongside the men.
- Also, she was a leader of leaders.
- Melinda’s story is such a beautiful reminder that ministry isn’t limited to pulpits or platforms.
Proverbs 3:6 NKJV In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.
- You may not feel like your job is particularly spiritual — but if you invite the Lord into it, it becomes sacred ground.
Ephesians 1:17–19 NLT Asking God, the glorious Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, to give you spiritual wisdom and insight so that you might grow in your knowledge of God.
Colossians 1:10–11 NIV So that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God, being strengthened with all power according to his glorious might so that you may have great endurance and patience.
- God has placed you exactly where you are for such a time as this — not just to make a living, but to make a difference.
